The International Olympic Committee will be in town from April 2-8th to evaluate Chicago's potential as a Host City for the 2016 Summer Olympics. Let them know that Chicago 2016 does not speak for the people of Chicago. Let them know that Chicagoans have other priorities. Let them hear your voice.

My friend S wanted to make me aware of the events below and asked that I spread the word. I'll be teaching at a workshop and doing the show this weekend but this sounds like great work if you're interested.

Sunday Feb. 1, 10am-5pm – Free 6-hour NVDA (Non-violent Direct Action) Training.
This will be an in-depth training that will cover all aspects of civil disobedience, getting arrested, legalities, strategy, etc. Our trainer
will be Annie Sartor, an organizer with Rainforest Action Network from San
Francisco.
Where: Irving Park Road and Damen Ave (brown line train).

I know that many of you are aware of happenings at the RNC and the abuse of non-violent protestors there, including the attack of a local friend and activist.
If you have interest in supporting freedom of speech and the right to non-violent protest, please consider one or both of the following actions:
First, ( take action to help those that have been arrested and treated unjustly by making calls and joining a solidarity group outside the jail (detail behind cut). )
Secondly, ( join many who will be sending prayers, energy and love to Minneapolis-St. Paul tonight at 9:00 PM CST (see details behind the cut). )
May our work be blessed and may our love bring change.
